📸 Image Quality Issues

Cause: Your image is below 512×512 pixels

Solutions:

  • Use a larger, high-resolution version of your logo
  • Or click "Continue Anyway" (quality may suffer at larger sizes)

Best fix: Get an image at least 1024×1024 pixels

Cause: Your image file is over 5MB

Solution: Compress the image first using:

  • TinyPNG (https://tinypng.com)
  • CompressJPEG (https://compressjpeg.com)
  • ImageOptim (Mac app)

Tip: Most logos shouldn't exceed 1-2MB even at high resolution

Cause: Starting with low-resolution image

Solutions:

  1. Use an image at least 1024×1024 pixels
  2. Increase contrast in Image Editor (Adjust tab)
  3. Try the "Sharpen" filter in the Filters tab
  4. Increase image quality to 95-100% in Advanced Settings

Causes: Image isn't square OR border radius too high

Solutions:

  1. Use Image Editor → Crop tab → Select "1:1 (Square)" aspect ratio
  2. Reduce border radius to below 30% in Advanced Settings
  3. Increase padding to give more breathing room

Recommended: Use 1:1 square crop + 10-15% padding + max 22% border radius

Cause: Logo too detailed or not enough contrast

Solutions:

  1. Simplify your design (remove fine details)
  2. Increase contrast in Adjust tab (+30 to +50)
  3. Try "Auto-Enhance" filter
  4. Add solid background color for better visibility
  5. Consider using a simplified version of your logo for favicons

✏ī¸ Image Editor Problems

Understanding: Backgrounds only show through transparent areas of your image

This is expected behavior:

  • If your image has transparent areas (like a PNG logo), backgrounds will show through ✅
  • If your image has a solid background, it will cover any background you apply ❌

Note: The Background tab shows a blue info note explaining this

Solution: Use images with transparent backgrounds (PNG format) for best results!

✅ Status: FIXED! You can now change backgrounds unlimited times

How to use:

  1. Apply any background (solid, gradient, pattern)
  2. Change your mind? Select different type/color
  3. Click "Apply Background" again
  4. New background replaces the old one
  5. No need to click "Reset All Changes"!

Example: Apply Red → Don't like it? → Change to Blue → Click "Apply Background" → Done!

✅ Status: FIXED! Editor now opens fresh every time

Current behavior:

  • Every time you open Image Editor, it starts with:
    • Background Type: "Transparent"
    • All sliders at 0
    • No filters selected
    • Completely fresh state

Why? This prevents confusion from previous edits carrying over!

This is intentional! Not a bug - it's a protection system

Why it happens: Prevents losing your carefully positioned crop

What happens when you adjust crop:

  • âš ī¸ "Apply Crop" button pulses (animated reminder)
  • đŸšĢ Other tabs are dimmed (can't click them)
  • đŸšĢ "Apply & Continue" is disabled

Solution: Click "Apply Crop" or "Reset Crop" to continue

If you try to switch tabs, you'll see: "Please apply or reset crop changes first"

âš™ī¸ Generation Issues

Cause: The website blocks external access to their images for security

Solutions:

  1. Download the image to your computer first
  2. Then use the Upload method instead
  3. Or try a different image URL from a CORS-enabled source

Note: This is a security feature of many websites, not a bug in our app

Cause: Your logo has a dark background that doesn't work in dark mode

Solutions:

  1. Use transparent background instead (works in both light and dark)
  2. Or create separate light/dark versions of your logo
  3. Light logos on dark backgrounds need solid backgrounds for visibility

Tip: Test your favicon in both light and dark browser themes before finalizing!

🌐 Browser Compatibility

Cause: Missing specific files or incorrect HTML code

Solutions:

  1. Ensure ALL files from ZIP are uploaded to your website
  2. Use the complete HTML code provided (don't skip any lines)
  3. Clear Safari cache: Cmd+Option+E
  4. Check that apple-touch-icon.png exists in your root folder
  5. Wait a few minutes - Safari can be slow to update favicons

Cause: Browser cached the old favicon

Solutions to clear browser cache:

  • Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) / Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac)
  • Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) / Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac)
  • Safari: Cmd+Option+E (Mac)
  • Or: Hard refresh with Ctrl+F5 (Windows) / Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)
  • Or: Open in private/incognito window to test

Note: Some browsers cache favicons aggressively. Wait 5-10 minutes if clearing cache doesn't work immediately.

⭐ Quality Score Issues

Cause: Image doesn't meet quality standards

Solutions (read the recommendations shown below the score):

  1. Increase Resolution (30pts): Use images 1024×1024 or larger
  2. Add Contrast (25pts): Use Adjust tab to increase contrast (+20 to +40)
  3. Optimize Complexity (20pts): Simplify overly complex designs or enhance too-simple ones
  4. Improve Color Diversity (25pts): Use 2-5 different colors for visual interest

Target: Aim for 80+ for professional results!

💾 Download Issues

Cause: Browser blocking download or popup blocker active

Solutions:

  1. Check browser download settings
  2. Disable popup blocker for this site
  3. Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
  4. Check if browser is asking for download permission (look for notification)
  5. Ensure you have enough disk space

↊ī¸ Undo/Redo Issues

Understanding Undo/Redo limitations:

  • What IS tracked: Settings changes (padding, radius, colors, quality, background, formats)
  • What is NOT tracked: Image edits in Image Editor (use "Reset" button instead)
  • History limit: Last 20 changes maximum

Common reasons undo doesn't work:

  1. Nothing to undo (no settings changed yet)
  2. You're at the beginning of history
  3. You changed images (undo is reset when loading new image)

Tip: Look for toast notification confirming undo/redo action

💡 General Tips

Troubleshooting steps:

  1. Refresh the page - Start fresh
  2. Try a different browser - Chrome, Firefox, or Edge recommended
  3. Check file formats - Ensure images are PNG, JPG, SVG, or WebP
  4. Review Help modal - Press ? for in-app help
  5. Use a local server - File protocol (file://) may have limitations

Recommended: Run app on http://localhost:8000 for full functionality

Follow these best practices:

✅ DO:

  • Use 512×512 or larger images
  • Use PNG with transparent background
  • Keep design simple
  • Use high contrast
  • Add 10-15% padding
  • Test at 16×16 size

âš ī¸ DON'T:

  • Use images under 512×512
  • Include fine details
  • Use low contrast colors
  • Skip platform previews
  • Use border radius over 30%
  • Forget to test in browsers
